The New Orleans Junior Golf Foundation received its official 501(c)3 tax exemption designation in December 2003. The organization then became a chapter of The First Tee Network in 2004. The First Tee of Greater New Orleans was the result of a private-public partnership which included many local citizens, private organizations and the City of New Orleans. The First Tee of Greater New Orleans Chapter is now an independent, non-profit organization governed by a local Board of Directors, under the umbrella of The First Tee Network, which is a nationwide initiative of the World Golf Foundation. Each First Tee Chapter operates with autonomy within The First Tee Network and is responsible for raising funds to cover capital and operating expenses. The First Tee Network is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after-school and school-based programs, we help shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. Our research-proven programs are having a positive impact on participants, their families and their communities.
